PCA School Dress Policy

General Guidelines
- PCA School Dress Standards apply to all grades (K-10 students).
- Christian modesty, neatness, cleanliness and simplicity are expected in all areas of appearance.
- Students are expected to willingly adhere to the PCA School Dress Standards while at school, on school-sponsored events, or during extra-curricular school functions.
- Parents are expected to support the PCA School Dress Standards by being actively involved with their student’s clothing and accessories decisions.
- The school administration and faculty have the final determination on appropriateness of school attire.
Professional Standard School Wear
Tops
- Short- or long-sleeved shirts with a folded collar (not sleeveless)
- Partial or full button-down worn with no more than two buttons unbuttoned
- Sweaters with or without collars *
- Solid color, no graphics or text except a single graphic no larger than 1” in diameter (e.g., a logo no larger than a quarter)
- Repeating patterns woven into the fabric are acceptable (e.g., plaids, stripes—no camouflage)
- Shirts should not depict those things related to ghosts, devils, the occult, skulls, Pokemon, superheroes, TV/movie characters, Disney or Marvel characters or other images deemed unacceptable by the teachers.
- Solid, single-color undershirt may be worn under shirt
Pants/shorts
- Solid color long pants or shorts that reach at least mid-thigh (i.e. fingertip length when arm is held down against leg while standing)
- Fits with waistband at or above waistline*
- Avoid excessively baggy styles
- Outermost layer should not be athletic wear material (e.g., leggings, sweatpants, gym/workout shorts or pants, track/warmup pants, etc.)
- No blue jeans or blue jean shorts except for on Fridays
Ladies only—Dresses/jumpers/skirts
- Must have sleeves or be worn over school-appropriate top (see above)
- Must reach at least mid-thigh (i.e. fingertip length when arm is held down against leg while standing) and provide modest coverage when sitting and walking
- Solid color or with woven-in pattern (no graphics, text, or camouflage)
- Must wear leggings or close-fitting shorts underneath during recess/P.E.*
Sweaters/Sweatshirts*
- Classroom wear—cardigan-style sweaters or full-zip solid color fleece jackets/tops may be worn inside over school-appropriate attire
- Sweatshirts and hoodies are not appropriate classroom wear. The exception is that PCA or church organization sweatshirts/hoodies are acceptable for Friday wear.
- Outdoors/gym—plain sweatshirts or hoodies may be worn outside or in the gym during recess/P.E. Any graphics must be clearly in line with Christian values. No characters, music or media representations, or “borderline” themes are permitted.
Friday Wear
- Any collared shirt or a PCA/supporting church organization t-shirt and jeans
- Jeans must not have rips, holes, or frays
Hats
- Students are not to wear hoods or hats inside.
Footwear
- Worn at all times: indoors and outdoors
- Closed-toe footwear (tennis/running/court shoes, dress shoes, boots, or casual shoes)
- Sandals with heeled strap (except on playground and field)
- A second pair of athletic shoes is required for indoor gym use only—may be kept at school
P.E. Attire—Grades 7-10*
- Students in grades 7-10 are required to wear a school PE uniform (shirt and shorts), which may be purchased from the office.
- Leggings may be worn for P.E. only if uniform shorts are worn over them.
Field Trip Attire–Grades K-6*
- Students in grades K-6 are required to wear the field trip t-shirt on all school trips.
- A long-sleeved shirt may be worn under the field trip t-shirt.
- Bottoms, footwear, and outerwear appropriate for the weather and field trip activities must be worn.
- General school dress guidelines must be followed (e.g., what graphics are allowed, no jewelry, etc.)
Other Accessories
- Scarves may be worn over shirt
- Outerwear (jackets and coats), hats and sunglasses are acceptable outdoors
- Belts are encouraged
- Jewelry (except clear spacers) is not allowed, and must be retrieved by a parent if worn to school
- Avoid extreme nail polish and long and/or artificial nails *
- Tattoos or body piercings of any kind may not be displayed on the body
- Keep hair clean and well-groomed
- Avoid unnatural hair color and extreme hairstyles
Music Department Performance Attire
- Palisades Christian Academy Music Department performance attire applies to all 4-10 music performance groups.
- All black on black performance attire
Gentlemen
- Slacks
- Long or short-sleeved shirt
- Shoes, socks
Ladies
- Long or short-sleeved dress (knee-length or longer)
- Long or short-sleeved shirt (no sleeveless, please) and skirt (knee-length or longer) or pants
- Shoes, socks/tights
Modesty, neatness, cleanliness and simplicity are expected in all performance attire. Improper performance attire may affect the student’s privilege to perform, as well as the student’s music grade.

5th Grade
Fruit of the Spirit highlights the ten fruits of the Spirit through the lessons from the Old Testament and New Testament stories. Additional historical and contemporary narratives also connect the principles of Galatians 5: 22 – 23. Students study the character traits and gifts God idealizes for His children.
